1984 from George Orwell

Between my favourite books, the dystopian world created by the british author is one of the best books I've ever read. The story is about a guy called Winston Smith who works in the Ministry of True of the fictious country of Oceania (a dark version of the British Empire); the work of Winston consists in rewrite the history of the country -and the world- by order of the government. He's part of the propaganda machine of the state, propaganda that promotes the devotion of the 'Big Brother' (the supposed ruler of Oceania) in the population. The book follows the life of Winston and how he starts rebelling (individually) against the control of the system and agaisnt the Big Brother.

It is indeed a really good book that shows the vision that Orwell has of what were going to be the results of the Cold War, the suspense is through the whole book, so I recommend it.
